Gold decorated ancient bed shown in Chongqing(3/3)

‘The Best Bed under Heaven’ was exhibited in Ba Yu Ancient Bed Museum in Yubei District of Chongqing Municipality, Southwest China on November 17, 2016. As the most precious treasure of the museum, this golden carved bed with six pillars and five cornices is 2.9 meters high, 2.8 meters wide and decorated entirely with shiny gold. Every cornice out of five in total of the bed is carved with patterns of plum blossoms, orchid, bamboo and chrysanthemum as well as luck represented designs of bat, butterfly, peony, peach, pomegranate and so forth. Created in Tongzhi reign of Qing Dynasty (1616-1912), the bed was originally a piece of dowry that a local rich family the Dai’s spent large amount of money and recruited a lot of craftsmen to build. Over 200g of gold was used to furnish it and the working lasted a whole of three years. (Photo/CFP)
