A deserted tourism project, The City of Three Kingdoms, in Taiyuan City, capital of North China’s Shanxi Province, Feb. 18, 2017. The project opened in 1995 after three years of building at a cost of 60 million yuan ($8.7 million). The complex was in the imperial architectural style of the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties, and boasted China’s highest statue of defied general Guan Yu of the Eastern Han dynasty. The Three Kingdoms (AD 220–280) was the tripartite division of China between the states of Wei, Shu, and Wu.
