The Hanging Temple, also known as Xuankong Temple, is on a cliff near Mount Heng in Hunyuan County, Datong City, North China’s Shanxi province. Built in 491, this temple is notable for its location on a sheer precipice, supported by crossbeams half-inserted into the rock as the foundation. It is also the only existing temple with the combination of three Chinese traditional religions: Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism. (Photo/CTPphoto)
