Huang Dafa, former Party chief of Caowangba Village, shares his story about building a water channel with students at an elementary school in Zunyi City, Southwest China’s Guizhou Province. As the former Party chief of Caowangba Village in Zunyi City, Huang led residents from three villages to begin building the channel in 1959 and finally solved their drinking water problem. The 7,200-meter-long channel named after Huang, which also has a branch channel stretching 2,200 meters, runs through three mountains and has a section of 170 meters long built on cliffs. The Dafa water project benefited 1,200 locals and also boosted the area’s rice production from 25,000 kilograms to 400,000 kilograms annually.(Photo: China News Service/He Junyi)
