Lab workers join pieces of timber retrieved from a vessel code named "Huaguangjiao No.1" at Hainan Museum in Haikou City, South China’s Hainan Province, June 1, 2017. The lab is now taking photos and making 3D scans of 511 pieces of timber retrieved from the merchant vessel , which sunk in the South China Sea during the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279). A digital three-dimensional model will be built in approximately six months that will vividly present the ship’s history. Experts discovered more than 10,000 porcelain objects on the vessel.
