A Falcon 9 SpaceX rocket launches from pad 39A at the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Fla., Monday, Aug. 14, 2017. The mission of the spacecraft is a cargo and supply delivery to the International Space Station. Cargo missions are always packed with some interesting payloads -- typically several tons of experimental equipment, food and other provisions. But this mission will deliver something the space station has never seen before: A supercomputer built by Hewlett Packard Enterprise, (HPE, Tech30) dubbed the "Spaceborne Computer." The goal is to test the computer for one year to see if it can operate in the harsh conditions of space - about the same amount of time as it would take for astronauts to arrive at Mars.
