Foreign currency hidden in aquatic products has been intercepted by the China Coast Guard in Shenzhen and Dongguan cities, both in South China’s Guangdong Province. Earlier in the year, coast guards had suspected a Hong Kong man, who for a long time sold fish in Shenzhen, of smuggling. After an investigation, coast guards in Dongguan and Shenzhen raided the ring, catching seven suspects, who disclosed they had smuggled out foreign currencies worth $100 million since 2014. In the raids, coast guards found 453,700 US dollars, 400,000 Japanese Yen and 360,000 Hong Kong dollars. It is believed to be the largest amount of smuggled foreign currency since the China Coast Guard was formed in 2013. (Photo/VCG)
