Madoi County in Golog Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Northwest China’s Qinghai Province is on the headwaters of Yellow River, China’s second longest river and also the birthplace of ancient Chinese civilization. Modoi in the Tibetan language means headwaters of the Yellow River. With an average elevation of 4,200 meters, the county is also at the center of Sanjiangyuan National Park. The county now has better ecological environment thanks to protection efforts. Today, increasing numbers of wild animals under national protection are spotted in the area.
