Since March 2017, thousands of local officials in Anhui have been appointed as part-time "forest chiefs", whose primary responsibility is to protect the forests and wooded areas, and also make use of them for developing the economy in more environmentally friendly ways.
Local officials said protection of the forests leads to improvement of the local environment and the tea quality, and more tourists are coming to the tea fields, which are surrounded by mountains and forests.
