Murals and clay sculptures from the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) have recently been discovered at a Tibetan temple in Shiqu County, Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Southwest China’s Sichuan Province. Local monks say the temple was built in 1269 and changed from the Sakya school of Tibetan Buddhism to the Gelug sect. Luo Wenhua, the director of the Institute of Tibetan Buddhist Heritage at the Palace Museum, says the findings will benefit the study of Tibetan Buddhism. (Photo: China News Service/Liu Zhongjun)
