Zhang Xiantu lived in Zhenxi Village in Yangquan City, North China’s Shanxi Province. As a bride, she was captured by Japanese forces in 1942, when she was 16, and raped and abused in a garrison. She was later released after her family paid ransom money. Zhang died on Nov. 12, 2015, age 89. (Photo: China News Service/Wu Junjie)
